Between Casal Velino and Pioppi

Voiro Italy Rentals are in the municipal district of Casal Velino. We are in the heart of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park, on the coast near Velia and on the hill connecting Marina di Casal Velino and Pioppi.

Cilento comprises the whole southern part of the Salerno province, delimited in the north by the flood plain Sele near Paestum, and in the south by the gulf of Sapri and the Lucania. The main road to the Cilento area is the SS18 Tirrena Inferiore, connected to a vast road system.

You can easily reach the main stations in the Cilento region from Naples and Rome. If you arrive at Napoli Capodichino, Roma Fiumicino or Ciampino airports you can rent a car or travel by train. Otherwise, during summer the Metro del Mare connects Napoli Beverello to Marina di Casal Velino each day.

The long beach to Velia | Marina di Casal Velino

Marina di Casal Velino is a seaboard town of the Cilento region, also known for its long sandy beach in the heart of the National Park, near the archaeological area of Velia. During the summer months numerous tourists come to our local hotels and residences. The centre has a lot of nice little shops, pizzerias, restaurants with typical and local food where you can spend pleasant summer evenings.

Marina di Casal Velino has even a port where to moor little fishing boats and tourist boats. It is starting point for excursions along the coast to the Infreschi, to the grottoes of Palinuro and for fishing excursions for tourists. Moreover you can rent catboats and rubber dinghies in order to reach isolated beaches on the coast between Casal Velino and Acciaroli.

For further information about Casal Velino and the tourist attractions please contact the local tourist office Pro Loco at +39 0974 907570 or visit the web site www.prolococasalvelino.it.

Mediterranean diet and its origins | Pioppi

Pioppi lies along the coast between Casal Velino and Acciaroli and is therefore protected from open sea. The mild climate and the luxuriant vegetation along the hills make the landscape really romantic and the little village becomes a real gem of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Annually its seaside is acknowledged as the most beautiful and clean in Italy. The FEE attributes to those location regularly the Blue Flag and Legambiente underlines this by a very good opinion in the Guida Blu (“Blue guide”) edited in collaboration with the Italian Touring Club.

DThe Palazzo Vinciprova on the promenade hosts two exhibitions: the Museo del Mare (Sea museum), a collection of species from the Tyrrhenian Sea disposed in 10 basins that reproduce faithfully the marine environment, and the Museo della Dieta Mediterranea (Mediterranean Diet Museum), named after the researcher Ancel Keys of the Minnesota University. The American researcher spend years in this little village studying the balance between nutrition and a nature based life, coming to that what we know as being the Mediterranean diet.

On the Mediterranean Diet website you can find more information about the Museo della Dieta Mediterranea in Pioppi. At www.museodelmare.it you will find more information about the aquarium and its exhibitions in the Sea museum
